As the only true Multipurpose carrier, MACS is able to carry a combination of bulk, big bags, steel products, vehicles, project cargoes, heavy lifts and containers on each of our specialized vessels. Our fleet of owned containers consists of not only dry vans and high cubes, we also offer our customers the flexibly of choosing to make use of our open tops, flat racks and modern reefer containers for their cargo. The highly experienced MACS team will find the most efficient and economical solution for your goods to be shipped.

MACS Service – Your reliable and flexible direct service between North Western Continent and Southern Africa.

The MACS liner service operates between Southern Africa and North Western Continent (NWC) with 6 owned, modern, multipurpose ships, trading to a schedule advertising approximately three sailings per month (11-13 day intervals). The ships are approximately 30,000 to 37,500 mts in deadweight and have heavy lifting capacity up to 240 mts.

In Europe the MACS Service offers the following northbound main ports: Vigo, Rotterdam, Hamburg and Antwerp and southbound Hamburg, Antwerp and Leixoes. On inducement the line will also call at other European ports, such as Bilbao. In Southern Africa MACS offers the following main ports: Walvis Bay, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Richards Bay. On inducement other ports like Coega and Saldanha Bay can be served.

MACS  offers the  fastest transit  time between Walvis Bay and Europe in both directions. Via this fast link and the Namibian

freight corridors the landlocked countries of Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Southern DRC can be reached speedily.

Portuguese, and any other European exporters to Moçambique, are enjoying the very fast and reliable service to Maputo. This port is serviced from Durban by the MACS owned feeder vessel MV Black Rhino.

The UK is connected to the MACS vessels with a dedicated service for the shipment of containers and conventional cargoes.

On demand MACS will charter dedicated tonnage to perform shipments of bulk or project cargoes exceeding the liner vessels capabilities.

GAL Service – Your reliable and flexible direct service between US Gulf/East Coast and Southern Africa.

The GAL liner service is operated between Southern Africa and the United States Gulf with 4 owned, modern, multipurpose ships of approximately 35,000 mts deadweight. The vessels, equipped with 40 mts cranes, combinable to 80 mts, can handle bulk, breakbulk, containers (including reefer containers) and project cargoes. The current, 4 ship configuration, translates into a monthly service (about 27-28 days). On occasion, additional tonnage is chartered in, reducing the gap to 23-25 days between sailings.

In the USA the GAL Service offers the following home ports: Houston, New Orleans and Jacksonville. On inducement the line will also call at Vera Cruz, Altamira, Brownsville, Port Arthur, Lake Charles, Mobile and Tampa.

Any other port in the USG and Florida can be considered subject port restrictions.Other ports in US Gulf and East Coast, including Mexico, can be considered on inducement and subject to port restrictions.

In Southern Africa GAL offers the following home ports: Walvis Bay, Cape Town, Durban, Richards Bay and Maputo. On inducement Port Elizabeth and East London can be considered (subject port restrictions).

STINNES Service – Your reliable and flexible direct service between North Western Continent / United Kingdom and North America.

The STINNES Multipurpose Liner Service is operated between the North West Continent, United Kingdom and the U.S. Gulf / East Coast Mexico with 2-3 modern, multipurpose ships of 17,000 mts deadweight and with a combined crane capacity of 290 mt. The schedule advertises a sailing every three/four weeks.

In Europe the STINNES MPP Liner Service offers the following base ports: Bremen, Antwerp and Bilbao. On inducement the line will also call at other European ports. In North America the SANMEX Service offers the following base ports: Veracruz (Mexico), Altamira (Mexico), Houston and New Orleans. On inducement the line will also call at other US Gulf, Caribbean or Mexican EC ports.

With the regular calls at New Orleans MACS customers can discharge their goods directly to barge and economically reach their destination via the Mississippi river system.

On demand STINNES will charter dedicated tonnage to perform shipments of bulk or project cargoes exceeding the liner vessels capabilities.

East Africa Service – Your new link from Europe / US Gulf to Northern Mozambique.

In May 2019 MACS established a new service from Europe and US to East Africa. Customers have the option to book their cargo on the MACS liner vessels which may extend their voyage and call directly the Northern Mozambique ports of Nacala, Pemba and Palma. Optionally MACS offers shipments to these destinations with transshipment in Durban onto the feeder vessels of our local partners.

Beside these options MACS performs dedicated charter sailings which serve the ports the MACS liner vessels are not calling.

ST HELENA Service – Your reliable and flexible service between the United Kingdom, South Africa and Saint Helena.

Feeder Services


 
UK

In association with our partner DFDS, the UK is connected to our network. The DFDS RoRo vessels carry containers and conventional cargo on Mafi trailers in addition to vehicles. Once a vessel from Southern Africa is due to discharge in Rotterdam a DFDS vessel is chartered to pick up the cargo and deliver it to Immingham. For UK-exports the DFDS vessels sail every second Friday directly from Immingham to the MACS terminal in Antwerp.
Other ports in the UK such as Tilbury, Grangemouth or Dublin are connected via container feeder vessels.

Sweden

Whereas ports like Helsingborg or Stockholm are being served by container feeder vessels, the port of Gothenburg is connected to the MACS network by the DFDS RoRo feeder service via Immingham. On this service, vehicles, containers and conventional cargo on Mafi trailers can be accommodated.

Baltic / UK / France / Spain

MACS offers container feeder options to various ports in this region.
On demand MACS is able to charter coasters to efficiently arrange pre/oncarriage for bulk, steel products and project cargoes and offering a through-B/L for these services.

Mediterranean Sea

MACS charters coasters so as to offer our customers efficient and competitive solutions for the precarriage of bulk, steel products, project cargoes and heavy lifts from the Mediterranean Sea. They are connected with the MACS tonnage at Leixoes or Antwerp, a through-B/L is available on this service.

 

MACS is able to offer pre/oncarriage to/from the following destinations, with transshipment in Houston onto Seaboard Marine’s vessels which also call at Jacintoport Terminal, allowing for a quick and cost effective transshipment between the two carriers:

West Coast South America

Fully multipurpose service (vessels geared up to 120 ts) sailing every 14 days from Houston to/from the following ports:

  • Jamaica: Kingston
  • Ecuador: Guayaquil
  • Peru: Callao
  • Chile: Arica, Angamos, Valparaiso

 
Central America, Colombia and Venezuela

Weekly container service with limited breakbulk capacity to/from the following ports:

  • Colombia: Turbo, Cartagena, Barranquilla
  • Venezuela: La Guaira, Puerto Cabello, Maracaibo
  • Panama: Manzanillo
  • Costa Rica: Puerto Limon

 
North Central America

Weekly container service with limited breakbulk capacity to/from the following ports:

  • Honduras: Puerto Cortes
  • Guatemala: Santo Tomas
  • Belize: Belize City

 
Mozambique

Every second MACS vessel departing from Europe calls Maputo directly, cargoes shipped on other vessels are transshipped in Durban.

On demand Nacala, Pemba and Palma are either served directly or by a transshipment solution via Durban.

Angola

MACS offers connecting services for containerized and conventional cargo to Angola with our partners Angola South Line. From Cape Town the ports of Malongo, Lobito, Luanda, Sonils are serviced.
